From the Editor: MTT-S Conference Calendar
From the editor's desk, welcome to the October issue of the IEEE MTT-S e-newsletter; the official monthly e-newsletter for the MTT-S members.
Fall is here! The school is well under way and the fall is a busy season for trade shows. Yes, European Microwave Week is just around the corner. For others, it might be the time to start planning for the holiday season. But before you go, it's a good idea to check where to publish your next greatest research results. It's a perfect time to check the MTT-S conference calendar and choose your next destination. Check it out because I'm sure we are somewhere near you!

Member-get-a-Member Program
Peer-to-peer referral is the most prominent means of member recruitment. Individuals are not likely to join IEEE unless they are asked. Now, you can get rewarded for sharing your IEEE membership experience with a colleague. Through the Member-Get-a-Member program, IEEE rewards your efforts in recruiting new members. Your local IEEE Section can also benefit.
For each new member you recruit, you earn an award which can be used toward IEEE dues, MTT-Society fees or the purchase of IEEE products and services. During the 2012 membership year (16 August 2011 through 15 August 2012), the IEEE MGM Program offers the following award schedule to members who recruit other individuals into IEEE membership.
Professional members can earn:
- US$15 for each Professional member recruited;
- US$5 for each Professional member recruited to e-Membership (offered in developing nations only);
- The maximum amount a member can earn during the membership year is US$90.
Student members can earn:
- US$2 for each Student or Graduate Student member recruited;
- US$15 for each Professional member recruited;
- US$5 for each Professional member recruited to e-Membership (offered in developing nations only);
- The maximum amount a member can earn during the membership year is US$90.
The IEEE even provides you with referral cards you can print and handout to your colleagues: http://www.ieee.org/documents/09-MEMB-0436-MGM-Averycards-R1.pdf

ARFTG & Power Amplifier Symposium: "High Power RF Measurement Techniques"
ARFTG will hold its 78th Microwave Measurement Conference at the Tempe Mission Palms Hotel in downtown Tempe, AZ, from November 29th to December 2nd, 2011, in partnership with the IEEE Topical Symposium on Power Amplifiers for Wireless Communications. At the ARFTG Conference, we have invited and submitted technical papers of a high standard, describing original work in the areas of high-power RF and microwave measurements, modeling, and design for power amplifiers, and in calibration and measurement techniques for RF and microwave circuits and systems. The Power Amplifier Symposium (http://pasymposium.ucsd.edu) is a one-day meeting that provides an informal forum for discussing innovative work in the area of power amplifiers, covering handset and base-station technologies, voice, video and data, from HF through mm-wave. We shall also have an 'Advanced Short Course on RF PA Concepts' that will present several important aspects of RF power amplifier and system design, with invited lectures by leading experts from industry and academia. You can register for all the conferences & courses at: http://www.arftg.org
Call for Papers: 2012 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting
The 2012 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting will be held the week of July 8-14, 2012, in Chicago, Illinois, USA at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers located in downtown Chicago. The symposium and meeting are co-sponsored by the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society and the U.S. National Committee of the International Union of Radio Science. The joint meeting provides an international forum for the exchange of information on state-of-the-art research in the areas of antennas, propagation, electromagnetic engineering, and radio science. For more information on the symposium, paper guidelines and student paper competition, visit the symposium web site www.2012apsursi.org.
Call for Papers: 2012 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium
The IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society’s 2012 International Microwave Symposium (IMS2012) will be held on June 17-22, 2012 in Montréal, Canada as the centerpiece of Microwave Week 2012. IMS2012 offers technical sessions, interactive forums, plenary and panel sessions, workshops, short courses, industrial exhibits, application seminars, historical exhibits, and a wide array of other technical and social activities including a guest program. Co-located with IMS2012 are the RFIC symposium (www.rfic2012.org) and the ARFTG conference (www.arftg.org), which comprise the Microwave Week 2012 technical program. With over 12,000 attendees and over 800 industrial exhibits of the latest state-of-the-art microwave products, Microwave Week is the world’s largest gathering of Radio Frequency (RF) and microwave professionals and the most important forum for the latest and most advanced research in the area.
